Whoopi Goldberg on Viola Davis' Emmy speech: 'I'm not sure what it means'

Whoopi Goldberg isnt quite sure what Viola Davis was trying to say after her historic Emmys win last month.

Well, Im not sure what it means.

Goldberg said during an interview with a reporter for BET.

Do you know what I mean?

The truth of the matter is theres been plenty of opportunity.

I mean,Scandal.

Lets just start with that.

Kerry Washington is there and shes working her booty off, okay?

But they didnt vote for her.

So, maybe the question is, what do you have to do to get voted on?

Goldberg went on to suggest that more African-Americans will probably get hired because Davis won an Emmy.

Its not that the opportunity is not there.

Weve had lots of opportunities, Goldberg said.

Davis began her acceptance speech by quoting Harriet Tubman.

In my mind, I see a line.

I cant seem to get over that line, she said.
