This had been billed as a one-off, 10-episode series.
If we came out and didnt feel strongly about the end point, then well just leave it.
In our mind, we broke it up to an additional two seasons.

How confident are you that this is a three-season, 30-episode story?
Will we find out next season, for example, that this has actually ballooned toanotheradditional season?
No, I dont think so.

By the end of the second season, we were exactly where we wanted to be.
We landed on [30 episodes] right away.
And then we got excited about it.

Why did you decide to move forward with an entirely new protagonist?
I liked the feeling of you not knowing who were waking up and how long theyll last.
Its lovely to have that finality, that even our stars could get killed.
Hes super charming, and Ive been stunned by Jasons nuance.
Im excited for the audience, I know theyre going to become addicted to him.
How different is this season from the first, aside from have a new cast of characters?
Why was it built like that?
What does that mean?
[Season 2] feels much more muscular, because the premise is outed.
you might have more fun.
Now, theres more chance for muscularity and bigger questions to be asked.
Its interesting that you say both sides will get information in a fresh way.
Those who watched season 1 obviously know whats going on with the town.
How do you avoid repeating yourselves with this season, especially as youre waking characters up?
Theres so much that hasnt been told… you keep on digging deeper.
[For every character] theres always a How does he get here?
and all of those things.
The key twist in season 1 was revealed in episode 5.
Is there a similar key twist in season 2?
No, theres nothing like that, but theres plenty of surprises in store.
Are you concerned with how theyll perceive this season?
Well, Blake came up with the story, so there you go.
[Laughs] It was Blakes idea, so you could get mad at him about it!
If he had finished writing the books, this is what he would have written.
This was the first TV series youve ever produced.
What did you learn from season 1 that youve carried on to season 2?
I mean, I could not have more respect for it.
Its just been an incredibly demanding art form, its a humbling task.
Im just in awe of how much it takes.
