Maybe during the summer people found out some stuff.

And its heavy, man.

Its a heavy deal.

That first episode back was crazy.

It was just crazy.

Hard work, but it went well beyond that.

And that ending or this beginning, I should say is jarring.

Its a reset onThe Walking Deadworld and its fing Negans world now, you know?

Did it surprise you, the reaction to the cliffhanger?

A lot of people were very upset.

Yeah, it surprised me how upset people were.

I think it kind of shocked all of us, frankly, that people were so upset.

Look, its storytelling at its best, and from the beginning of time theres been cliffhangers.

And by the way, I didnt even know it was going to end in a cliffhanger.

I didnt know that, you know?

It turns out exactly what I shot is exactly how it ended.

But I liked it.

I think by the time October rolls around all those people who are like, Im never watchingWalking Deadagain.

I feel cheated, theyre going to be the first ones lined up in front of their television.

I think thats a very good point.

We dont follow the comic book to a T. There are deviations, and there have to be.

Otherwise the audience is going to know what the answers are before.

Its about keeping the audience on their toes, but youre right.
