Alexandria has been overrun by zombies.

But could things be different this time when the show returns for the midseason premiere on Feb. 14?

DANAI GURIRA:Its so full of many different things.

Its a really full meal.

But they are stepping into newer territory than they realize.

When you talk about character growth, what does that mean in terms of Michonne?

Obviously Deanna entrusted her future plans for Alexandria to Michonne, so whats Michonnes take on that going forward?

Is she going to feel a responsibility to see those through?

I think Michonne has already felt a deep responsibility to Alexandria.

Rick initially punched him in the face and was not having it.

She said in the episode where Tyreese died, Weve been out here too long.

And she was seeing it affects her people, so I dont think thats really the shift.

I dont think thats necessarily a change for her.

Its something more than being dutiful to the group and to those things.

Its something else, and I think that Michonnes journey is to figure out what that something is.

But Alexandria is a long-term home in the comics.

So what makes this place different and worth saving?

Is it just the infrastructure and the community?

Is it a matter of we cant keep going out there?

Or is it both of those things?

I think its definitely both of those things.

And it is really kind of that thing that makes their journey continual and dynamic.

That doesnt mean they can necessarily stop moving, but theyre fed up with it.

You know, living off a few bullets and a few drops of water theres nothing worse.

It all depends on we respond to this moment.

Its all about how they all respond.

Its all going to be about how they respond to this crisis.

Its a really make or break moment in terms of the community and Alexandria.

Will they band together?

Do they become survivors together, or do they really break apart?

Thats something that Michonne takes to heart and really appreciates.

Theres a possibility that we can create a society again, which is whats shes hoped for.

But well see what happens.
