“It didn’t seem like an obvious match withFingersmith, given the super-violence ofOldboy,” Waters said.
“What I like about the octopus is that it links back to the pornography,” she said.
“It links back to those pornographic images of women having sex with octopuses.
That was probably the most important thing for me, that feminist essence.
So it’s amazing; you might bring in an octopus actually, and it doesn’t change.”
“I want to know that they’re not going to misrepresent the novel.
“Then again, this is a bit crazy, isn’t it?”
