Jason leaves town (at least temporarily), which prompts Eli to make a shocking confession to Alicia.

If it were up to me, I wouldve titled this episode Voicemail because holy crap, guys!

Eli finally told Alicia about the voicemail he erased from her phone!

Only, Eli Gold was standing off-stage holding Alicias phone.

Putting Peters career above all else, Eli listened to the voicemail and promptly deleted it.

That happened in the first episode of season 2.

Well played,The Good Wife.

But before we get to the reveal, we have to deal with some other things.

The title comes from the case that Alicia and Lucca are currently working.

(His patients are kids.)

Well get to that later.

The doctor never actually did anything.

So the question comes down to: Can we be arrested on our fantasies alone?

The jury seems to think yes.

He claims theres insufficient evidence to support said conviction, and therefore, hes issuing a judgment of acquittal.

Whether she and Lucca earned that win will remain up in the air for now.

I understand your job, Ruth.

But as a woman, you should be ashamed.

NEXT: The confession six years in the making

Jason tells Alicia, and she understands, of course.

The thing she doesnt understand is how Eli could do this to her.

Its a wake up call for dear Eli, who realizes that Ruth mustve been behind the whole thing.

But thats not the only thing he realizes.

She has business to do.

Its that heartbreak that leads Eli back to Alicias doorstep, where he apologizes about Jason.

He tells her that she should call him if she wants.

She shouldnt let the campaign get in the way of her happiness.

Why is he telling her all of this?

Because…six years ago you got a message from Will Gardner.

I erased it, Eli tells her as I gasp so loudly that my neighbors probably think Im dead.

He apologizes and promises not to stand in the way of her happiness again.

Alicia, stunned, simply takes his glass from in front of him and tells him to get out.

Translation: The firm has no chance of meeting this filing deadline.

Meeting with the associates, Cary learns that their plan is to go to Canning.

So Cary and Diane come up with a plan of their own.

He promises to beat Cannings offer and even gives them $80,000 in signing bonuses.

And yet, the moment they set foot back in the office, he and Diane fire them.

So now, they are conflicted out of working for Canning.

In other words, theyre s out of luck on this one.

I dont think anything can describe how I feel about this moment better than Diane and Carys high five.

The old(er) guys win again!

So with that, we end 2015 with triumph and heartbreak.
