I really do love her, says McCarthy.
I have to love a character to play them even when they are behaving poorly.
The role was born during McCarthy and director Ben Falcones days in the Groundlings more than a decade ago.

According to Falcone whos also married to his leading lady McCarthy arrived on set with the character fully realized.
She was very certain about [Michelle] early on, he says.
So she and costume designer Wendy Chuck created one.

Wendy is so incredible, says Falcone.
There wasnt a scene where Michelle isnt done up just so.
But it wasnt easy.
There were nights my assistant stayed up bedazzling things, Chuck says.
Shes one of the most methodical people I know, Flowers says.
She likes to laugh and have fun, but her standards are so high.
Ben says Ive never used my hands so much, McCarthy says.
I dont normally wear [long nails], but I have to say, my hands look better!
