ShowrunnerJason Rothenberg wrote this last weekwhile describing his reasoning behind Lexas death and responding to the outcry following Thirteen.

No matter how you feel about the situation, tonights episode at least proved the truth in those words.

No one is safe.

That being said, Stealing Fire was an excellent episode.

Maybe it was because Bellamy (and Monty) is back on the right side.

Maybe it was because Clarke has a new sense of purpose.

Maybe it was because Pike wasnt around too much.

Or maybe it was because Murphy got to litter the episode with one-liners.

Whatever the reason, the episode felt like a return to form.

The episode startedwith Clarke and Murphy still in the room where Lexa died.

Theyve been locked in there for 24 hours while Titus has been preparing for the conclave.

She finds the young nightblood at his purification ritual, which ends up being heartbreaking for Clarke.

The conclave officiates are there with the body of the former commander.

Instead she asks Aden about his vow.

Lexa made every nightblood make that vow.

Turns out shes a bit off her rocker.

Pike agrees and sets execution for the main three at dawn.

Bellamy and Monty meet with Harper and Miller.

Bellamy shows them the bug in Millers coat and then says they want in on the plan.

Harper and Miller play-act.

Theyre not quite ready to trust their friends, understandably.

Octavia meets him there and then stabs him in the neck with a tranquilizer.

Sibling rivalry is brutal on the Ground.

When he wakes up, hes in a cave with Octavia and Indra.

She doesnt need her brothers help and she doesnt even need Indras help this time.

She goes into Arkadia alone while Indra stays with Bellamy.

NEXT: Abby is back!

Pike, in a rare moment of kindness, allows Kane to have five minutes alone with Abby.

They need someone here to show them a way out of the dark, he says.

While Abby is fighting against her feelings corruption at Arkadia, Clarke is doing the same at Polis.

Is she really in there?

she asks, and Titus says of course.

But Titus says the flame amplifies pre-ascension characteristics.

Lexa was already a wise person.

Reminder: Ontari is a crazy person.

And as if on cue, the victory horn starts blowing.

Ontari belongs onGame of Thrones.

He leaves them at the tunnels, but Murphy knows Clarke well: Were not leaving are we?

Not without the flame, she says.

On a mission, Clarke and Murphy go to Titus flamekeeper sanctuary, where they find the chip.

But Titus is there, too.

Titus says shes the only option: If someone without nightblood takes the flame, it will kill them.

All the other nightbloods are dead.

But then Clarke remembers that Lexa didnt kill everyone at her conclave.

Titus says one fled: And her name was Luna.

This name sounds familiar to us and to Clarke.

Luna is the person who Lincoln said would take in him and Octavia at the end of season 1.

Titus says that shes unworthy of being a commander, though, because she fled.

She tells Titus that shes ready for the flame.

Titus tells Murphy to take her to the commanders quarters and start the purification rituals.

Rebecca) so that she can go find Luna.

Now that Clarke has all the info for the ascension ritual, Titus calls her flamekeeper.

NEXT: Prison break

Before Clarke leaves, Titus tells her hell get Murphy out of the city.

I love that she thought to ask this, but Murphy seems to be doing fine on his own.

Ontari is bathing while he watches.

Roan has a knife to Titus throat, but Murphy points out they need him for the ritual.

(Look at Murphy being a Grounder expert!)

Roan agrees, but then Titus grabs the knife and SLITS HIS OWN THROAT.

Hes able to get out for Lexa before spurting blood everywhere and falling into the bathtub.

Seriously,thisshould be onGame of Thrones!

But a missing flame and a dead flamekeeper wont stop Ontari.

She tells Roan to light the pyre and announce her ascension.

He tells her shes choosing her own people over Octaviaagain.

Octavia is my people, she says before leaving.

Tell her Im sorry.

Harper sees them moving down the hall and radios, Package is on the move.

Monty and his awful mom are listening and realize Octavia is helping them.

But it was all a ruse!

Octavia knows how these Ark spaces work, and shes hid with the three prisoners under the floor.

When Kane complains that its too tight, she says, Try doing it for 16 years.

As they flee the bunkroom to the escape wall, a drugged Bryan pops up to go with them.

He was in on it and now on Team Good Guys.

Abby is there, too, even though Kane told her to stay out of it.

As theyre all exiting, she tells Kane she isnt going with them.

Woo, #Kabby!

Pike decides the only way to stop their escape is to bring them to us.

In that moment, I knew what was going to happen.

We all knew what was going to happen.

He hands a drugged Octavia over to Kane and lets himself get captured.

The escapees are fleeing Arkadia with Octavia on horseback.

The chancellor says he wont free Lincolns people, but he promises theyll be cared for.

As Lincoln kneels and Octavia watches from afar, Pike asks if he has any last words.

Pike pulls the trigger, and Lincoln falls.

Octavia weeps, but then a steely resolve comes over her.

Pike, you better watch out.

What did you guys think of Stealing Fire?

Have you stopped crying yet?

Are you listening toCloud by Eliason repeat?

Why do you think Indra left?

Is Montys mom going to be tolerable now?

Where was Jaha during all this?

Whos the worse villain now: Pike or Ontari?

(Full disclosure: I think Ontaris kind of afunvillain.)

And what can we do to get Clarke and Octavia together?

I think they need to have a good cry together and then take on the world.
