WhenStar Wars: The Force Awakensfinally hit theaters after years of anticipation, fans both praised and condemned the fact that the new film was so similar to the original trilogy.
While some of thesimilaritieswere pretty obvious a young, Force-sensitive person leaves her desert home to face off against a villain in a black mask and blow up a planet-sized super weapon others are a little more subtle.
Now, filmmakerJorge Luengo Ruizhas cut together a side-by-side comparison exploring exactly how J.J. Abrams paid tribute to the originalStar Wars.

Previously, Ruiz created asimilar videoabout how Pixar honors classic films likeRaiders of the Lost Ark, The Shining,andRear Window,and his newStar Warsvideo does the same thing.
The video includes some of the more obvious callbacks, like major plot points and dialogue, but there are also a lot of little visual cues and similarities like how Luke dramatically removes his hood almost exactly the same way Obi-Wan did all those years ago.
