More than 1,000 people were surveyed during the last week of December for Fandangos annual Hot List.Rogue One, starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, and Mads Mikkelsen, arrives in theaters on Dec. 16, 2016 just shy of a year afterThe Force AwakensDec.

Film fans already know what they want for their 2016 holiday present, as they count down the days till Dec. 16 when the next Star Wars story opens in theaters, says Fandango Chief Correspondent Dave Karger.
The new year promises plenty of action, star turns and first-time comic book adaptations to satisfy a wide range of consumers and to continue the momentum of 2015s banner year for moviegoing.
Coming in behindRogue Oneon the survey is PixarsFinding Dory, which brings back the Ellen DeGeneres-voiced forgetful fish (and introduces some of her new friends).
Rounding out the top five areBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, thenext installment in theBournefranchise, and MarvelsCaptain America: Civil War.
Other results from the survey found that Melissa McCarthy (Ghostbusters) is the years most anticipated actress, and Matt Damon is the most anticipated actor (for his return as Jason Bourne).
Sophie Turner (X-Men: Apocalypse) andTom Holland(Captain America: Civil War) were picked as top rising female and male stars, respectively.
Wonder Woman was named most anticipated film debut of a comic book character, forGal Gadots upcoming turn inDawn of Justice.
