Its been a while two weeks, actually, since the last installment ofSerial.
Did you forget who Bowe Bergdahl was?
Did the twisty, Byzantine fate of this seasons protagonist start to get a little foggy in your mind?

Im not trying to be funny.
This is a real problem.
And I think this season ofSerialis in real trouble.
I havent decided whether or not I think this is a good thing.
Sure, Im all for getting it right and taking your time.
But so far, season two hasnt exactly made the strongest case for my wanting to stick around.
So, of course, this week, we dont hear from him at all.
Instead, this weeks episode takes a look at how the U.S. government handled the situation.
Which is to say, not very well for a very long time.
The episode begins with host Sarah Koenig interviewing someone named Kim Harrison.
She wanted to get Interpol involved, but since Bergdahl was military it wasnt within their jurisdiction.
We traded him for five Taliban prisoners in Guantanamo Bay.
And lay it out, she does.
), who went so far as to make contact with the Taliban.
This last one is the most interesting part of the episode.
She found and emailed with a Taliban informer who seemed to have information about where Bergdahl was being held.
Needless to say, it was a deal Harrison didnt have the power to make.
She passed along this lead to the FBI, but it fizzled out.
The episode is about the little people who tried to do something when the big people wouldnt.
Who needs the headache?
Its easier to just say: Not my problem.
That said, Im hopeful.
Bergdahl and why he left his base in the first place.
