Pat Harrington Jr., an actor best known for playing the superintendent onOne Day at a Time,has died, his daughter announcedon FacebookThursday.
He was 86.
Harrington the son of Broadway actor Pat Harrington Sr. got his start in the 1950s on shows likeMake Room for Daddyand went on to appear onThe Bing Crosby Show, The Munsters,The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,and more before getting theOne Day a Timegig.

Harrington won both a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his performance onOne Day at a Time,which he starred on from 1975 to 1984.
He continued to have a steady acting career after the CBS sitcoms end, and last appeared in front of the camera on a 2012 episode ofHot in Cleveland.
