And so do their backing band.
Its a very welcomed break, Devine says.
Im looking forward to it.

But its going to be nice to just look in the diary and see nothing.
It will be lovely.
And backing One Direction isnt the only thing keeping the Bournemouth, England, native busy.
Devine has also been working on music of his own along with Ollie Green, a fellow U.K.-based musician.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Whats the most exciting thing thats happened to you while youve been with the band?
JOSH DEVINE:When we headlined Madison Square Garden, that was a pretty big, big deal.
Its just such an iconic venue.
We got to play there three times, and it was mind-blowing.
And now 1D is too big for a New York venue.
Over the summer, you performed at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Thats such a cool venue.
And it was chaos.
But it was such a cool place.
Obviously there are millions of people who want One Direction to come back from hiatus.
Would you be there along with the boys when and if they return?
But yeah, Id absolutely, 100 percent, never give up this job.
I absolutely love it.
And is that the general sentiment of the rest of the band as well?
But no one can turn down …
I mean, its the offer of a lifetime to play with these boys.
Were you at all shocked when it was decided the band would take an extended break?
It wasnt a shock so much as …
I think they definitely need it.
When youve been on the road for five years, its inevitable.
It was going to happen at some point.
But its getting to be more and more of a shock the closer it gets!
Im thinking, like, Damn, this is real!
[Laughs] I think the fans are never going to let the band die.
Thats the best bit.
And its never truly gonna end cause theyll be back at some point, 100 percent.
Oh, this rainbow bear thing?
[Laughs] Its just so random.
Its one of the stage crew that dresses it up and thinks its funny.
They can believe what they want to believe.
Yeah, its as far away from the band as possible.
I dont think anyone really knows they exist apart from the fans.
Like, whoa, its just a baby I found!
I think its great.
Moving on, are you a fan of 1Ds music?
Yeah, more and more so as the albums have progressed.
I think my favorite is stillMidnight Memories.
And What a Feeling onMade in the A.M.is magic.
That is my favorite song.
Whats been your favorite song to play live?
It used to be You & I, just because that drop when we come in was so good.
I think Clouds and Stockholm Syndrome were my favorite to play on the last tour.
Is Cmon, Cmon the song youre most bummed got dropped from the setlist?
It was at first.
Im nevertoobummed unless its a song that we only played for a couple of days.
Its wild that What Makes You Beautiful was on the setlist for so long.
That was the first-ever hit, the first song I had with the boys.
What are you going to be doing during the hiatus other than working on your music?
What do you hope to get into?
Im kind of open.
Music with other people as well, maybe.
