I did a few rough sketches of the characters in different positions and from a few different angles.

I had to check that everything was detailed enough so it didnt look too loose in the final image.
My style is greatly influenced by the illustrators of the 50s and 60s, he says.
They would create realistic pieces of art but usually with a unique design element and/ or slightly stylized figures.
Coming from an illustration and animation background, I didnt really draw in a typical comic style.
I had to mentally make that switch from the illustration style to comic-paneled storytelling.
