Because Id never really done any improv in a dramatic sense and it really is quite different.
You have to obviously really know who your character is and how they feel about things and their perspective.
It really forces you to become that character, just that little bit more, I found.
Was there a natural impulse to play the improv larger or funnier because of your comedy background?
Because I knew thats not what the movie was.
This was not like that.
This is just having a conversation as a character with other characters in the movie and creating the scene.
It just felt different.
What specifically got you hooked and made you want to do this?
I think hes an incredible filmmaker.
I really admire people who do things that are a little off-center in the world of film.
Im really proud of this film because theres such a twist in the second part of the third act.
Its not where its supposed to happen.
Peoples reactions to that is kind of like, Oh, this is weird.
I dont want to go see the same movie over and over again.
You mentioned how youre not really interested in repeating yourself, and Im interested in your professional outlook afterBridesmaids.
I imagine that theres some pressure to do more of the same.
Is it hard to say no when people are backing the metaphorical Brinks trucks up to your door?
Its not hard to say no to things that you dont feel passionate about.
And hey, why dont I try this?
Its just like a feeling you get.
Its not as planned out as people think.
So you dont feel like industry pressure, like, CmonyoureKristen Wiig, This is perfect for you!
I dont really think about it all that much.

Thats true with everything.
Some movies you get more takes.
Some movies are three-camera.
Some movies have better food.
Ridleys kind of famous for his directors cuts that come out 10, 25 years later.
Was there tons of stuff you filmed that he had to cull down?
I dont know what to say!
What was your decision making process that got you onboard?
I mean, its not that complicated of an answer.
Its actually kind of boring.
Paul [Feig] was involved so that was the first thing that intrigued me.
I just thought all the characters were great.
The nods to the first two [movies] are so subtle and respectful and funny.
I really fell in love with the script.
Theyve all become my family from shooting this movie.
We had an amazing time.
It was so fun.
