Well, there wasonething that was a non-starter.
The only thing I didnt want to do is say the line, Its not a tumor!'
he tells EW, referencingthe classic line uttered by Arnold Schwarzeneggerin the original 1990 film.

Kindergarten Cop 2has a more modern conflict than Ivan Reitmans movie.
Known for his slew of action films, Lundgren found the experience of working on the movie refreshing.
Because the kids were just kids.

There were all these 6-year-olds that are actually there, he says.
Theyre not acting or thinking about their characters backstory or anything.
EW chatted with Lundgren ahead of the movies home movie and digital HD release on Tuesday.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: How did you get involved withKindergarten Cop 2?
Then I read the script, and the script was really funny.
It had its own different storyline than the original.
I thought, Oh, 26 years ago, maybe there is time for another one.
A lot of kids who see this one probably havent seen the other one.
So I decided to do it.
Arnold was cool, and we talked about it, and he was very supportive and so forth.
Your character Agent Reed is fed up with the liberal political correctness of the school.
Yeah, both [laughs].
Theres humor in it for sure it was a clever idea by the writer [David H. Steinberg].
I agree a little bit with Reed in some of the stuff [laughs].
Some of the things, I think the modern way is good.
Most people associate your name with Drago inRocky IVor Gunner inThe Expendables.
Was it a conscious decision to move away from those strong, hulking types?
Its funny, because I never intended to be that way.
I was that person as a karate champion.
When I got in the business, I thought acting was interesting and something I hadnt done before.
It was sort of a conscious move.
Its certainly something I want to do.
BetweenSmall Apartments,Hail, Caesar!, and this, what draws you to doing more comedic work?
I realize Im pretty good at it, and its something I havent used.
I think its mostly [because] I enjoy it.
I can do pretty well in lighter material than Ive had access to.
It pays a few bills, and its been good Im not complaining.
Ive got a good image to work from.
It gets tiring, after all.
How would you describe your comedic rapport with your costar Bill Bellamy?
We naturally get along together as people.
As a comic by trade, did Bill help you nail down comedic timing or through beats?
I think he did help me.
This material is broader.
If you think youre doing too much, you may not be doing enough.
Comedy can always go pretty broad; that was one thing he helped me with.
Was there one funny or memorable moment on set with the kids?
What was sort of cute was the arc of our relationship.
In the beginning, they were almost scared of me.
And theyre 6-year-old kids.
They look at me like, Oh, he is the man.
Then when I said goodbye to them, some of them were very, very sad.
I have this photo of me and all the kids.
They all signed it its in my office with their little cute signatures.
I look at that, and I always think, Wow, time flies.
Your kids are much older than your costars.
Was it easy to turn back the clock to interact with kids all the time?
It was all a pleasant memory of how grown up they are already when they are that age.
They feel you out, and they can feel your personality very easily.
