Hes not someone who likes to stay too long in one place, either.
And thats why its unlikely hell helm any upcomingStar Warsfilms.

One doesnt just walk away from the biggest film franchise of all time, of course.
Abrams remains executive producer ofStar WarsEpisodes Eight and Nine.
And that position suits him just fine.
Im very happy to be where I am, he says.
Rian Johnson [who is currently directing Episode Eight] is brilliant and needs no help from me.
BeyondStar Wars, Abrams is executive producing HBOsambitious sci-fi WesternWestworld,another reboot of a cult favorite.
And it may be his longest running passion project.
Westworldis one of those things Ive wanted to work on for so long, he says.
And its taken along time to get this going.
Thats continuing to prove true.
In January, production on the seriesshut down temporarilyto get ahead on writing.
At the SXSW panel he shared with filmmaker Andrew Jarecki, though, Abramsshowed the audiencea trailer forWestworld.
(HBO has still not given a premiere date for the series.)
At the heart ofWestworldis this story of consciousness and oppression and discover, he says.
Its one of the projects I feel most grateful and lucky to be a part of.
That is never a bad move.
