Jake Gyllenhaal is continuing his recent string of heavy dramas includingEverest,Southpaw,Nightcrawler, andEnemy with the true story ofJeff Bauman, who lost his legs during the Boston Marathon bombing.
On Thursday the Oscar-nominated actor released a first look at the movie onhis Facebook pagewith the photo, seen above, accompanied by a simple caption: Love is strong.
Based on the New York Timesbestselling autobiography(co-written by Bret Witter), the movie also starsOrphan Blacks Tatiana Maslany (pictured with Gyllenhaal) as Baumans then-girlfriend theyre now married who was running the April 15, 2013 marathon but was uninjured in the attacks.

Bauman was the subject of one of manyiconic photoscaptured in the aftermath of the bombing.Strongeris the deeply personal account of the heroic journey that came after that photo defining a mans inner courage, a communitys pride, a familys bond, and an unexpectedly tenacious love.
The movie, which doesnt yet have a release date but is scheduled for sometime in 2017, is filming in Boston and is being directed by David Gordon Green (Our Brand is Crisis).
