You didnt mean to, Amelia says a couple times in this episode.

He ends up surviving, though he will probably never walk again.

Meanwhile, his friend the shooter, Peter is terrified.

What child wouldnt be?

Here he was, probably thinking that the gun was just a fun new toy, harmless.

And now his friend is paralyzed.

This is heavy stuff for anyone, especially someone as young as this.

At the end of the episode, Amelia sits in front of Peter to tell him what happened.

Thats when she advises he keep telling himself, You didnt mean to.

You didnt mean to, she says, hugging him from behind.

Amelias usually the one struggling, so its refreshing to see her in the caretakers position for a change.

The whole shooting incident riles up everyone including Maggie, whos realizing how attached she is to Merediths children.

Someone needs to get her a pint of Ben & Jerrys, stat.

Afterward, Maggie calls the babysitter for Merediths kids just to check in.

I dont know how you live like this, she says.

NEXT: Cant Callie and Arizona just get along?

Callie tries to talk to Arizona about what to do about Sofia, but Arizona keeps shutting her down.

She wont even look at the brochures for New York schools Callie brought to show her.

In other words, shes acting like a baby.

Why cant Callie and Penny just move to New York and end this Calzona drama for good?

Why cant we have nice things,Greys?

Like, silence so dramatic that youd think she just announced shes a convicted serial killer.

Even Karev is disappointed, especially once he finds out that her gun is hiding underneath their shared bed.

But at the same time, having everyone basically shun Jo comes off as petty and unrealistic.

It gets better toward the end of the episode when Karev comes home to find Jo holding the gun.

She returns the gun to its box, and then the two embrace.

Gun safety bringing two people together!

(Note: Hopefully she knows how to safely dispose of that gun.

The world might be a messed-up place, but at least we have Wilmer Valderrama guest-starring.
