Callie and Arizona face off in court
Remember when Callie and Arizona were starting out?
When they were so in love?
When they were one of the best couples on the show?

Those were the good ol days for everyone involved.
Now Im past wanting Callie and Arizona to get back together.
They tried that; it didnt work.
Not every love is supposed to last.
But it would be nice if they didnt have any relationship drama for at least a single season.
This one was going so well, and then this happened.
Owen and Meredith speak on Callies behalf while Webber and DeLuca vouch for Arizona.
The judge prefaces the whole thing by warning, The things said here will undoubtedly be harsh.
Penny cant remember understandably.
Hell, I cant remember whatIwas wearing today.
Sofia is in first grade, a mistake she quickly tries to correct.
Sofias potential new parent doesnt even know what grade shes in.
Even as someone whos inclined to dislike Penny, this is…not a huge deal.
Thats not how Arizonas lawyer sees it, though.
But Arizonas case isnt free of cracks, either.

They were getting along so well!
But alas, whats done is done.
Toward the end, Callie takes the stand and recounts the day Sofia was born, a.k.a.
the day she nearly died in a car crash.
I had to fight to stay alive for my daughters sake, she remembers.
Being a mother is the reason Im still alive today.
Then shes off to (successfully!)
save someones child at the hospital while Callie watches her leave, flabbergasted.
Her reaction doesnt quite make sense youre a doctor, too, Callie!
If anyone should understand why Arizona has to leave to make suresomeone doesnt die,its you.
Even though Arizonas reasons for leaving are completely legitimate, its not looking good for her.
Within minutes, they find out that Arizona gets sole custody.
We dont find this out until the final moments, when Arizona stops by Merediths to pick up Sofia.
Shes asking Meredith how this happened, and then theres Penny, hovering.
She doesnt know what to do, especially because she probably knows that she contributed to this.
Now the question is, whats going to happen between Callie and Arizona?
And whats going to happen between Callie and Penny?
Shes made some misguided decisions, but that doesnt mean she deserves to be without her daughter.
At the end of the day, shes still a good mom.
At the end of the day, theyrebothstill good moms.
Its too bad they couldnt figure out how to be good to each other.
