One of the first rules of sitcom writing is that comedy needs conflict.

And judging by the premise alone,Grace and Frankieshould have plenty of it.

(Yes, we realize the plot is almost as complicated asGame of Thrones.)

Strangle him with one of her many silk scarves?

She takes a deep breath and…calmly walks away.Sigh.

Aside from Graces big anger speech, the two leads express very little bitterness toward their exes (seriously?

), to the point where they actually delight in helping to plan a wedding for Robert and Sol.

The two women dont even really fight.

Frankie and Grace are supposed to be the ultimate odd couple.

They dont challenge each other, and they wont challenge your preconceived notions as a viewer.

Its disappointing that a comedy so radical in conceptfour septuagenarians as stars!is so conservative in tone.

Vin Diesel aside, the problem isnt that Grace and Frankie are old and out of touch.

Its that the show is.C
