Kaytranada has a nice way of combining house and hip-hop.
Doses, Bonzai
Shes got this wave/grime/I-dont-even-know-what going on.
Its really dark stuff, the sounds are really fing cool.
That particular bass tone tweaked my ears massively.
Ive been trying to re-create it.
The songs dont sound like theyre made by a robotyou really feel the emotion.
Thats something thats easily lost in electronic music.
There are some female rappers, like Sampa the Great and Bonzai, who are doing really interesting stuff.
Its almost spoken word at parts and singing at others.
You cant pigeonhole it.
Drone Bomb Me, Anohni
Im really feeling the electronic stuff with vocals.
Theres a lot of classic songwriting that comes into play with this song, and its super politically charged.
That really stands out to me.
Its like the past got a face-lift.
Once, Ngaiire
Shes a female vocalist worth watching.
She has great songs, interesting production.
Its a really nice balance.
All Nite, Clams Casino feat.
Vince Staples
Vince is already big, but hes a future star.
And Clams Casinos production is really unique.
It has this kind of otherworldly quality to it.
Its also kind of lo-fi, which is definitely forward-thinking.
