Then they were like, Okay, well see you in six weeks when we shoot the finale.
And then they secretly gave me the script, and I was like, Oh, wow, okay.
So I knew everybody, which was great going into it, and thats not always the case.

So when they asked me to do it I was like, Ill do anything for the Shipleys.

I just love those two.

Karen Neal/ABC
It was like going to summer camp.
Wreckedis clearly a bit of a spoof onLost; were you a fan of that series?
I never saw one episode ofLost, so theres that.
Interesting, because there is definitely a specific character that yours seems to be based on.
Maybe I should have known that.
I do my own thing, youll see.
Whats the character that Im supposedly like?
Rousseau, this French woman who had been stuck on the island by herself for like 15 years.
I guess they did kind of tell me that [laughs].
How much improv went on there?
There was a lot.
I have to say the Shipleys, they write as if its improv.
When I read the Shipleys stuff I dont do that.
So I didnt feel like I needed to do that; we just got to play.
What was it like acting opposite these inanimate objects?
Oh my god, thats like my dream.
I used to have a one-person show where it was just me.
I got to be just me, the center of attention thats an actors dream.
Narcissist or actor, I dont know.
I think theyre interchangeable.
Did you have a favorite scene partner of those objects?
And I got in there.
I probably have zika in my mouth.
What happens to Rosa is left open-ended.
Do you think well see her again?
And theyre like, Cool if you want to come back, were going to have you come back.
I dont know how many episodes, but word on the street is that Im coming back.
You might have time to catch up onLost.
I know, but I kind of think its funnier that I dont know anything about it.
You were great on the first season ofCasual.
What was that role like, and do you think we could see Emmy return?
Those guys are my friends.
Michaela wrote my other TV showBenched, which was canceled.
Hey, nice to meet you too.
Great heres my naked body.
Awesome, heres mine.
Lets just throw them and slam them together.
Instead of a handshake lets do a full-body shake.
They are like the two extremes, so I feel like I land somewhere in the middle.
I mean, do I need to finance it?
I got some money.
I feel like I should.
I know Id really appreciate you doing that.
Ill just be like, Oh, we need to get financers.
And then it will be well, were already in motion so somebody will jump in.
No, that would never work, but lets put it out there.
I like that strategy.
Yeah, that Eliza Coupe is going to financeHappy Endingscoming back, thats a hilarious rumor.
What will it be like coming back for this one episode?
I think first of all, Im excited for that.
Ive been dying to do Jane again.
It was such an amazing time.
Why do you think the show has endured as a cult favorite?
People found it, because you find good stuff no matter, and everyone is, What?
How did I miss this?
Its likeArrested Development; I feel like people discovered that show after it was canceled.
I know I did.
And I think people are like, Wait, what the f?
ABC just completely screwed up, and I think thats now being noticed and recognized.
No show has ever been able to squeeze so many jokes into 22 minutes.
I have a problem, I talk too fast on television now.
Every thing I do, theyre like, Hey can you slow down?
Now that Im thinking about it, I vividly remember Jane making aLostjoke.
Yeah, Jane lovedLost.
Eliza has no idea.
What other projects do you have coming up?
I just drop in and do stuff onThe Mindy Project, and I just talked to Ike Barinholtz.
I think Im going back to that.
Im praying that they pick it up because its a really funny show with incredible people involved.
Im not the head of a data pipe or studio maybe I should be.
Start that rumor too.
Eliza financesHappy Endingscomeback and is going to be head of a web link of studio.
There will be so many clicks on this.
Then my team is going to be like, Youre crazy right?
And Ill be, Yeah, yeah, we all know that.
