Of course, Sherlock is hesitant because every deal with his father comes with some sort of hidden agenda.

Plus, he has great gratitude for Watson.

She saved my sons life, he says in a moment of vulnerability.

Either way, its work, and thats what they do best.

And boy do they have quite the case to solve.

The episodes open sees a man going through an experiment ripped straight fromA Clockwork Orange.

While undergoing the experiment, the scientists doing the research are murdered, each shot point-blank.

to make it figure out where to start, Holmes and Watson need to determine just what was stolen.

Or as Sherlock plainly calls it, brainwashing.

Thats hindering their investigation, or as Holmes puts it, a murder investigation is not a three-legged race.

Back at the brownstone Sherlock tells Watson about the deal his father has offered.

He proclaims that hes innocent and that the media frenzy surrounding him is ridiculous.

Thats right: No brainwashing was happening at all.

That means he doesnt have a motive to murder the researchers.

Perhaps he covered up the true motive of the murder by stealing the research?

But hey, no brainwashing at least!

That question leads them to the researchers patron, Samuel Meher, the DARPA leader funding the project.

But how could she kill three people in the professional way the researchers were murdered?

Did she have an accomplice?

It turns out, she kind of did, but that accomplice isnt a person.

Thats flimsy evidence, but thankfully a rat (seriously!)

It would be a touching, vulnerable moment to end on, butElementaryisnt ready to do that.

Instead, Watson remains unsure about the deal and asks for more time to think.

Sherlock thinks nothing of it, but its clear shes hesitant for a reason.

At the end of the episode she goes to see Morland and reveals what shes dug up on him.

But heres Morland, stirring things up like he tends to do, even if his intentions seem good.

As things change for Watson and Holmes, its clear that this transition period isnt going to be smooth.
