EW recently caught up with the musical duo to discuss the origins of such fantasy.

The first one that really blew my mind was [Land of the Dead].
When I started to see a story in my own head, it looked likeAdventure Time, Graves adds.
That was a general pattern that my brain was following.
He says, My favorite things in this is is collaboratively writing lyrics with Amanda.
I can write good lyrics on my own but it takes me a really long time.
When the two of us are in a room together, it happens really rapidly.
That was big for me.

Hes the ideal space dad, Graves says of the astronomer.
Like, youre at a campfire and your dad is talking you through what all the stars are.
It takes me back to this really innocent place.
I was obsessed with these pictures, Graves says.
Well, they all feel like theyre in the woods and/or theyre in space.
Anything that looks like this can go on the album.
Dreams
Graves often wakes up from dreams with music in his head.
Sometimes I lose them, he says.
And it might have been the best song that I ever had.
I always knew I was going to move here, says Scott.
They both agree that transplanting is what freed up their creative impulses.
I visited here once and it was the first time that I didnt feel insane, says Graves.
