I wanted that sound, very smooth and purposefully soft sound that also works as rock.
To me, that reminds me of California and the early 70s.
Theres a lyric about a Captain Tom in the song, Armisen continues.

Armisen, who once drummed for the hardcore bandTrenchmouth, adds that he did his fair share of research.
I was emailing with one of the members from the band America, Gerry [Beckley].
And they still sound good today on your iPad.
