So hes forced to the play detective at the office to try and ferret the mole out.

Axe gets an IT guy to look into everyones works computers for suspicious activity.

Three employees have deleted their hard drives and made them unrecoverable.

Donnie is one of them.

Basically, hes screwed.

That doesnt work, so instead Axe goes one-on-one with Donnie in a conference room.

Donnie doesnt confess to anything, but he certainly wilts under the heat like a guilty flower.

Connerty immediately recognizes that Donnies damaged goods.

Axe finds it, as expected, and fires the guy, unaware of his innocence.

Youd think this might be the kind of thing that could haunt him.

The Charlatan

But the U.S.

Attorneys office, too, is able to scrounge up some off-the-record dirt on Axelrod.

(Kate seems to have more friends in the five boroughs than the mayor himself.)

The fact that all his colleagues died is the only reason he was able to take over the firm.

The man is a charlatan and a fraud.

Its not illegal, but its horrifying and tarnishing enough to make the publicwanthis conviction.

This makes Chucks day.

Its on every newspaper and cable-news online grid around.

Laras sister finds out.

Their kids get pulled from school for the day.

At work, Axes team looks at him with a mix of sadness and fear.

But Axe doesnt let it get to him.

And he does, very much so.

So, once again, Chuck and Wendy are at an impasse.

But eventually, Chuck starts to feel the pressure from a higher force: time.

His current annual salary would be what he makes every week at his new gig.

Ultimately, though, he turns it down.

Because he decides hecancount on Connerty.

That inspires Chuck and instills a greater sense of loyalty.

Otherwise, without someone he can mold in his own image, he becomes immediately irrelevant.

Hes basically dead without Connerty.

Shes been with Axe longer than shes been with Chuck.

And all of it tears Chuck up.

The Twist

At the very end of the episode, Axe and Donnie meet under the cover of night.

Theyve been in cahoots this whole time, we learn.

Axe has been feeding information to Donnie to tell Chuck and his team all along.
