Actor Bill Paxton has died due to complications from surgery, a representative for his familyconfirmed to PEOPLE.
Paxton was most known for starring in films like 1986sAliens, 1995sApollo 13, 1996sTwister, and 1997sTitanic.
Paxton also nabbed an Emmy nomination for playing one of the title characters in History miniseriesHatfields & McCoysin 2012.
He also headlinesTraining Day, a CBS series that debuted in early February.
Born in Texas in 1955, Paxton made his first credited big-screen appearance in Bill Murrays 1981 comedyStripes.
But it was 1985sWeird Sciencethat put Paxton on the map.
He played bullying older brother Chet in the comedy, which John Hughes wrote and directed.
The next year, Paxton starred inAliensfor director James Cameron.
And I think Hollywood is just sort of catching up with him.
