The rescue of Oliver’s son requires magic to fight Damien Darhk’s magic.
Luckily, Ollie has just the friend in mind to join the fray.
Damien Darhk knows just the right time to strike at his foes.

And by right, I mean the absolute worst, as he proves at the top of Taken.
Oliver tells her of his double life and even invites her down into the Green Arrow lair.
Felicity isnt hurt that Oliver has a son, though.
Shes upset his first inclination here, and so often before, is to hide the truth from her.
Despite the problems in his relationship, Olivers number-one priority is saving his son.
And when Olivers son doesnt even know hes WIlliams father, can Oliver do the same?
Unfortunately, Damien got wind of their assault on his hideout and had the boy moved.
He does battle with the Arrow and Vixen, recognizing her totem.
Mari saves him, but Damien disappears simultaneously.
Which leaves Team Arrow with just as much progress as they made when the episode began none.
But before the two can reconcile any further, they receive an update from Mari.
NEXT: Oliver learns to let go, while Felicity learns to put herself first.
Vixen theorizes in Taken that any magic-wielding person must have some sort of totem like she has her necklace.
Captain Lance recalls seeing an idol in a cabinet in Darhks office when the captain was working double duty.
And she comes bearing advice Oliver may not want to hear.
Mari suggests that, once William is safe, perhaps Oliver should continue to keep his distance.
With that in mind, Oliver is forced to make a decision when Felicity triangulates a position for Darhk.
Surrounding the mansion, Vixen swoops in from the skies and crashes through the roof.
Taking his moment to stride, the Arrow wails on Darhk until the man is unconscious.
But the sight of a reunited mother and son isnt the only thing of note at the station.
Lance informs Oliver that Damien didnt kidnap William.
A man with one hand did.
Hmm… what recently out-of-work assassin with an axe to grind could he possibly mean?
Malcolm doesnt take her admonishments lying down, however.
He believes everything hes done has been in the right.
He sees a bigger picture Thea cant quite grasp, and without him shed be dead.
All hes done is love her, he believes, and all shes given in return is spite.
She enters the apartment, taking off her engagement ring and saying she needs space.
Olivers continued mode of operating alone ignores a key element of being in a relationship.
Her life takes another sudden turn when her foot twitches.
On the Island
Baron Reiter cracks through the prisons wall, opening up a tunnel to his vaulted treasure.
This monstrosity recognizes the glowing marks, offering Oliver safe passage.
