Whats the funniest screenplay ever written?According to members of the Writers Guild Association of America, that honor goes to Woody Allen and Marshall BrickmansAnnie Hall which also picked up an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 1977.

The awards were announced on Wednesday at events on both coasts, taking place at Hollywoods Arclight Cinerama Dome and at New Yorks New School.

It wasnt the only honor for Allen, who had six other scripts singled out as part of WGAs 101 Funniest Screenplays, includingSleeper(60),Bananas(69),Take the Money and Run(76),Love and Death(78),Manhattan(81) andBroadway Danny Rose(92).

Comedy greats Mel Brooks and the late Harold Ramis also saw mutliple honors for their work, with four and three scripts, respectively.

The top five were rounded out by classic movies ranging from the 1960s to the 1980s, such asSome Like It Hot,Groundhog Day,Airplane, andTootsie, though the inclusive list also honored a fair number of recent comedies, includingBridesmaids,The 40-Year-Old Virgin,The Hangover,andMeet The Parents.
